A backtest can only tell you about the past; to meet the world, you have to go. So when I’m not proving things about leakage, I’m chasing a sunrise up a volcano, wading an icy river until my legs go numb, learning to ski (badly, then less badly), or befriending every cat between Evanston and Guatemala. Think of this page as my other research program — ongoing fieldwork on how wide and generous the world is. Every pin on the map below comes from the photos themselves: a place I have actually stood.
